BREAKING NEWS: Ameren's credit rating lowered

CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois regulators said Tuesday they hope Ameren Corp. will find a way to assist customers with higher bills, even as the utility said it was scrapping a planned $20 million electric-bill credit.
(WMBD/WYZZ TV - PEORIA) Problems for Ameren could have an impact on you. Moody's Investors Service has downgraded Ameren's credit rating to junk. Junk status means it's considered lower than investment grade quality. Ameren says it's going to have to make cuts in certain departments to keep providing energy to everyone.

NEW YORK — Ameren Corp., which operates gas and electric utilities in Missouri and Illinois, on Tuesday disclosed that Chairman, President and Chief Executive G.L. Rainwater received compensation valued at $4.4 million last year.
